Susan Hazard’s Biography

Susan Hazard, a fourth-generation native of Santa Barbara, California, has created art since her earliest years. A strong interest and focus on exploring a life of creativity led her to classes at the San Francisco Art Institute and Santa Barbara City College, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

After travels through the western United States, Canada, Hawaii and Mexico, Susan fulfilled a lifetime dream to travel to Ireland and Great Britain. Her intense interest and appreciation of the natural beauty of Ireland resulted in a move to County Mayo in 1991 where she resided for over three years. In Ireland she participated in many solo painting exhibits and shows, as well as numerous group shows. She was also a co-organizer of the North Mayo sculpture trail, Tir Sailte, and also organized watercolor and oil painting classes for adults in County Mayo.

Susan's main interest is painting vibrant, colorful impressionistic gardens and landscapes with impasto oils with palette knives. Most recently, a one-person show was held in the Santa Barbara Public Library in February, 2003.

Susan Hazard paintings are in collections in the United States, Ireland, North Wales and Great Britain, Germany, France and New Zealand.
